"The Ranger is a tough customer when you need it to be and a smooth operator when it matters most. Its engine offers refined power delivery while providing the muscular towing and payload capabilities that make trucks a must-have for some buyers." — Car and Driver
"The Ranger has all the right parts and pieces to be a strong pickup truck: Tow/Haul mode, huge real-world payload capacity, it tows like a champ (not an easy thing at this size), and is easy to maintain." — MotorTrend
Fresh off an extensive update the previous year, the Ford Ranger returns for 2025 with only small revisions and changes. Most of the changes relate to the exterior color list. Three of last year’s color choices that have been dropped from the lineup include Cactus Gray, Iconic Silver, and Hot Pepper Red. Taking their place are Marsh Gray, Ruby Red Metallic, and Desert Sand. Truck buyers now have the option of choosing a new Black Appearance exterior package that adds dark accents for a bolder look.
Immediately identifiable as a Ford truck, the Ranger boasts a sophisticated exterior look that’s made possible by bold proportions and rugged accents. Striking features of the exterior include its high beltline, steeply raked windshield, and an upright grille. Perfect for tackling obstacles off-road, the short front overhang and impressive ground clearance of the Ranger help it excel on the trails. The “Ranger” nameplate is proudly embossed into the high-strength steel tailgate which also features an available integrated trailer hitch. For an even more striking appearance, the available FX4 Off-Road Package offers FX4 exterior badging, frame-mounted skid plates, and a frame-mounted heavy-gauge steel front bash plate.
Under the hood of the Ford Ranger lies a standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost 16-valve engine that features direct fuel injection and a twin-scroll turbocharger. This proven powertrain features enhanced durability made possible by its chain-driven dual overhead cams along with forged steel connecting rods. It also comes paired to a class-exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission for greater response and efficiency. A more muscular 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V6 is also available along with the purpose-built 3.0-liter EcoBoost® V6 found on the Ranger Raptor. Choose the optional FX4 Off-Road Package to receive all-terrain tires, off-road-tuned shocks, and the innovative Ford Trail Control™ which debuted on the F-150 Raptor. This advanced system includes five individual drive modes to help you adapt to the terrain. Intended for low-speed travel on harsh terrain, available Trail Control can manage acceleration and braking for maximum confidence in tricky situations.
Designed to help you stay connected more than ever before, the Ford Ranger offers a wide range of advanced tech features including SYNC® 4A featuring Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™ smartphone integration, available 12-inch touchscreen display, and a digital instrument panel. There’s also a standard FordPass™ Connect 4G LTE modem which lets you access Wi-Fi connectivity on up to 10 devices. An optional Bang & Olufsen premium audio system provides the perfect soundtrack for your next trip inside the Ranger.
Every Ford Ranger features standard Automatic Emergency Braking, giving you a helping hand when you need it most. Other available safety technologies include Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and a Reverse Sensing System. XLT and Lariat trim levels receive a class-exclusive Blind Spot Information System with trailer coverage. Lariat models also come standard with Pedestrian Detection and Adaptive Cruise Control.
