About the Ford Transit
The Ford Transit is an incredibly versatile workhorse, which offers unparalleled usability no matter what you need it for. Choose from a wide variety of wheelbases, roof heights, drivetrains, and seating configurations in order to really dial in exactly the sort of van that you need for your business or personal use. The maximum cargo capacity of 487.3 cubic feet offers a significant advantage over old-style vans like the GMC Savana, which has only a bit over half of that capacity. A lower cargo floor and higher roof also mean that loading and unloading that cargo is a lot easier too. If it’s people that you’re hauling, you can fit up to 15, and they’ll definitely appreciate the higher roof, as well as things like the available power sliding door, which you won’t find in competing vans. Drivers will appreciate the available all-wheel drive, which makes for better control in treacherous weather conditions. And fleet managers will appreciate the advanced Ford Pro™ Telematics that help you optimize your fleet more efficiently. There’s something for everyone with the Transit.
What the Critics Say
"The Transit's main rivals include the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the Ram ProMaster, but the Ford feels more maneuverable than either of them. Technology plays a role here too: all Transit models come standard with basic driver-assistance features, and Ford's Sync 4 infotainment system is available with a large 12.0-inch display screen." — Car and Driver
"With dozens of configurations to choose from, there's a Transit for just about every need. Your business' specific requirements will dictate how you spec your Transit. But however you configure it, you can't go wrong by getting the sharp-looking 12-inch touchscreen." — Edmunds

Ford Transit Features
Capable Utility
No matter how you outfit it, the Ford Transit is a capable vehicle, with the stock 3.5-liter V6 producing 275 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. For more demanding jobs, there is a 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost® engine, which bumps things up to 310 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. An advanced 10-speed automatic transmission comes with either engine, ensuring smooth power delivery that won’t needlessly shift around the cargo or people in the back. All-wheel drive is available, good for snow or light off-road duty. With its 6,900-pound towing capacity, the Transit can haul all of your essentials, including things like dirt bikes and ATVs, since the Transit is a popular choice for people who convert vans into campers. The Transit offers more power than the Ram ProMaster, and a lot more than a Mercedes Sprinter, which is the only other van in this segment to offer all-wheel drive. Simply put, no other van on the market offers the capability of the Transit.
Unmatched Versatility
A wide variety of configuration options gives Transit buyers the opportunity to set up their vans for exactly the purpose they’re intended for. With two different wheelbases to choose from, the Transit can be configured to carry up to 15 passengers, and selecting the Long Wheelbase option gives you a massive amount of cargo space behind the fifth row of seats, making it easy to carry both people and cargo at the same time. Or you can opt for the Crew Van configuration, with seating for five and plenty of cargo space behind the seats. Three different roof options mean that you can make more room to stack cargo, or just make it possible for adults to stand all the way up inside. And if you need some more extensive customization, there are 13 upfitters within a 30-mile radius of the Transit assembly plant in Kansas City, Missouri. These upfitters work directly with Ford, and getting your Transit modified quickly and with minimum hassle is much easier than ever before.
Advanced Technology
The Ford Transit is easily the most technologically advanced commercial van on the market, with available features that streamline all sorts of functions. For starters, the standard SYNC® 4 infotainment system can be ordered with built-in navigation and a huge 12-inch touchscreen, an enormous help when it comes to efficient route planning. The big screen also makes it a lot easier to see what you’re doing while reversing, always a tricky move for anyone who hasn’t been driving a van for many years. You won’t find a screen like that in any of GM’s vans, or any screen at all, in fact. And to go with that, there is a Reverse Sensing System, Lane-Keeping System, Hill Start Assist, and Side-Wind Stabilization, all of which make driving easier and keep your driver and cargo safer. To top it off, there is available Ford Pro™ Telematics to help you get real-time location and vehicle status information, so you can better plan routes or schedule required maintenance.
