Pickup trucks are big business for American automakers and Ford has been the sales king of this segment for decades. The competition remains fierce in this crowded segment and GM’s truck-focused GMC brand is one of Ford’s primary competitors. You might think that a brand made specifically to focus on trucks would have an advantage, but we’ve compiled a list of awards given out to Ford trucks by third parties and this tells a very different story. The list shows why the Ford F-series has so dominated the truck market for so long. Sarchione Ford of Alliance is proud to be your top destination for class-leading Ford pickup trucks. Let’s see exactly how they measure up to their rivals at GMC!
Kelley Blue Book has been the leader in automotive resale value for almost as long as there have been automobiles. KBB’s estimates constitute the closest thing to an industry standard for used vehicle values. The resale value projections are based on a number of things and historical reliability is the primary criterion that is considered. Every year, KBB puts out awards for the vehicles that are deemed to be the “best buys” in a variety of categories. Resale value is obviously one of the top factors in this study but things like owner satisfaction are obviously important too. For the 2024 awards, Ford models took home four of these awards, more than any other single brand. One of these wasn’t for a truck, but the Expedition isn’t a crossover and is built like a truck with body-on-frame construction so it’s worth including. Not that we need to for Ford to come out on top. GMC won zero Best Buy awards which is an easy number to beat. Here are the Ford trucks that won for 2024:
the most thorough rating systems you’ll find in any automotive publication. This system features points awarded to a wide variety of areas like performance, comfort, and many others. Each year, these points are tallied up for the Top Rated Awards where six different vehicles are given awards (plus one for top overall) according to the categories they fit into. For the 2025 iteration of these awards, Ford took home the coveted Edmunds Top Rated Truck with the proven midsize Ford Ranger. Yet again, GMC failed to earn any recognition in the Edmunds Top Rated awards.
“The latest Ranger is so much more refined than the previous generation you would barely believe they shared a lineage. In the past, if you wanted a pickup with a nice interior, you needed to go shopping for a full-size. But the Ranger bucks that trend by offering a quality interior, keeping plenty of physical buttons and knobs to go along with the Ranger's easy-to-use touchscreen, and adding driver aids that we longed for on the previous generation.” – Edmunds
J.D. Power has presented the proven Ford Super Duty with America's Most Dependable and Appealing Heavy-Duty Truck awards. Engineered with a reputation for excellence, it comes as no shock that the award-winning Super Duty continues to receive praise and recognition from top critics across the industry. Its impressive mix of relentless performance, class-leading capabilities, and innovative tech features help you work both smarter and harder. Ranked #1 in both dependability and owner satisfaction, why would you ever settle for anything less than the best? GMC did not receive any #1 overall awards for its heavy-duty trucks from J.D. Power.
It is incredibly clear at the end of this list of awards which manufacturer builds the superior trucks. GMC’s lineup is simply no match for the Built Ford Tough line of advanced and capable trucks that you’ll find at Ford. Whether you’re shopping for the best truck for towing, going off-road, or the most capable electric truck on the market, the answer is always Ford. The best place to find that truck that’s right for you is Sarchione Ford of Alliance.
