The Ford Transit is the ultimate in versatility. While it has its competitors, none can match the sheer usability of the Transit. The cargo capacity is massive, much bigger than in the old-fashioned truck-based vans that are still being sold by competitors. The low floor and available high roof make loading and unloading easy, especially since it’s possible for an adult to stand up inside. You have a choice fo two different engines, and you can even opt for all-wheel drive, making it easier to haul around the max payload of 4,887 pounds, or tow up to 6,400 pounds, even in bad weather. Passenger configuration can carry up to 15 passengers, and getting in and out is a breeze. When you or an employee need navigation assistance, the 12-inch infotainment screen is easy to read and operate. And the available heated, 10-way power-adjustable front seats keep you comfortable while you work.

There aren’t many options for all-electric commercial vans on the market, but fortunately, there is one based on the best-selling Ford Transit. The E-Transit, as it’s known, offers similar horsepower, but a bit more torque than the gasoline engine in the standard Transit, and at a slightly price. But even better than the initial savings is the massive savings on fuel. Apart from that difference, the E-Transit is largely the same as the conventional Transit that is already such a hit with delivery drivers and tradespeople everywhere. There isn’t a passenger version, but there are still three available body lengths, three available roof heights, and a cutaway configuration for upfitting. Despite the lower starting price, some of the options in the Transit are standard on the E-Trasit, including the 12-inch SYNC® 4 touchscreen that comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability. The battery is good for an estimated 126 miles of range, plenty for most delivery routes, but if you need to top up while you’re out, the Ford BlueOval charging network lets you easily add some range in a hurry.
2023 Ford Transit Connect

The Transit Connect is built to offer the same kind of versatility and utility as the full-size Transit, but in a smaller package, for those who don’t need quite as much van. The cargo space is still impressive, but the Transit Connect is easier to maneuver, starts at a lower price, and uses less fuel. Thanks to its clever design, the passenger version of the Transit Connect can seat up 7, and cargo versions offer more space than nearly any other vehicle with the same seating capacity. Short-wheelbase configurations have a turning diameter of 38.3 feet, shorter than any number of midsize sedans. It even offers a 2,000-pound towing capacity. All of this makes for a very practical van for quite a lot of uses. The downside is that 2023 was the last model year for the Transit Connect in the US, but that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to still get one.
