For those who need an SUV that can do absolutely everything, the Ford Expedition is here for whatever you need to throw at it. Comfortable seating for 8 adults, huge cargo space, a truck-like towing capacity, and a dedicated off-road trim demonstrate how the Expedition comes with some serious credentials. It is powered by a twin-turbo V6 that makes noticeably more power than the V8s found in rival SUVs while keeping fuel consumption to a minimum. This isn’t the only tech that makes the Expedition impressive either as the cabin is full of the latest in comfort amenities, infotainment equipment, and advanced safety tech that keeps everyone safe. All-wheel drive is available, standard on some trims, and additional off-road equipment like skid plates and tow hooks can be added. The revolutionary Ford Digital Experience infotainment system is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ and the available premium stereo and rear Digital Device Holder feature provide a more enjoyable drive for everyone.
"Yes, the Ford Expedition is a very good large SUV, and its performance score is among the best in the class. This Ford’s twin-turbo V6 engine has ample muscle and more than holds its own against rivals’ V8 engines. The Expedition also has composed handling for a vehicle of its size." — U.S. News & World Report
"U.S. demand for gargantuan SUVs hasn’t waned over the past few decades. The Expedition—which consists of a plush, roomy cabin cloaked in a boxy shell—stands as a testament to the endurance of that demand. As with the new Navigator, the updated Expedition benefits from smoother styling and expanded technology offerings." — Consumer Reports
As the recipient of a major redesign for the 2025 model year, there are plenty of exciting new features and updates that are sure to excite Ford Expedition shoppers. Starting with the exterior, you’ll instantly notice its new front fascia, new Ford Split Gate rear liftgate, and new wheel designs. In terms of interior improvements, the biggest update is the addition of the all-new Ford Digital Experience infotainment system featuring an impressive 24-inch panoramic display and improved responsiveness. When it comes to the trim selection, the total number has been reduced from 6 down to 4 for 2025. This includes the discontinuation of the adventurous Timberline variant from last year, replaced by a new rugged Tremor trim level.
In keeping with the time-tested Built Ford Tough design principle, the Ford Expedition is assembled to much higher standards than the competition with key features like its available 4X4 system, robust engine options, and muscular fully-boxed frame for superior strength. Under the hood is its standard 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine paired to a 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission for the ultimate blend of responsiveness and fuel economy. Expedition shoppers have their choice of two different versions of this legendary V6 – a standard version with 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque or an optional EcoBoost® High-Output V6 engine producing 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Eager to adventure where other full-size SUVs are afraid to travel, the Expedition is available with a clever 4-wheel drive (4WD) system offering 7 individual drive modes. Even more impressive, the Expedition continues to deliver a healthy 9,600-lb maximum towing capacity thanks to its optional Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package as well as AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™.
The first thing to be said about the interior of the Ford Expedition is that it’s large. In fact, it is large enough that the Expedition offers 36.5 inches of legroom for third-row passengers, more than you’re going to find on other three-row SUVs, making the Expedition one of the very small number of SUVs on the market that can fit adults in the third row. The seats can also be folded down to create a massive 108.5 cubic feet of cargo space or 123.1 cubic feet in the Expedition MAX. There is an available B&O® Unleashed Sound System by Bang & Olufsen® with 22 speakers to make whatever you’re listening to sound incredible. Thanks to options like the Panoramic Vista Roof® and Zone Lighting, the interior of the Expedition is well-lit without the lighting being too harsh or distracting. Available heated and ventilated front seats as well as heated second-row seats and tri-zone climate control with controls for both rows of back seats keep everyone at a comfortable temperature. Everyone can also charge their devices and have no problem finding somewhere to put their beverage thanks to the 6 charging ports and 15 cupholders.
One of the biggest reasons why the Ford Expedition stands out from the competition is the technology that comes with it. This starts with the engine technology, advanced materials, and construction techniques that make the Expedition so much more capable than the competition. But it certainly doesn’t end there. The Expedition comes with a standard 24-inch panoramic display and a 13.2-inch center stack touchscreen, much bigger than most infotainment touchscreens already. This stunning display combination is powered by the Ford Digital Experience infotainment operating system which is also compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The entertainment options continue with FordPass™ Connect which gives the Expedition a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. There is also an available Digital Device Holder for second-row passengers to watch movies, TV, or listen to their own music independent of the excellent stereo found in the Expedition
Technology has also been harnessed to make the Ford Expedition safer thanks to features like Ford Co-Pilot360™ 2.0, an advanced suite of driver aides aimed at helping the driver avoid accidents. This includes things like BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keeping System, and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). There are parking sensors, always an important thing to have in a larger vehicle, and there is an available Active Park Assist 2.0 System that can take over control and park for you for greater confidence behind the wheel. Another of the semi-autonomous features available on the Expedition is BlueCruise, a hands-free form of cruise control that lets you take a break and allows the Expedition to drive itself (under certain conditions), letting you to arrive at your destination rested and refreshed.
